The Trumpet Judgements Unveiled
Chapter 10
The Locusts/Scorpions
Let’s begin taking a look at the locusts/scorpions. Within these verses concerning the locust/
scorpions are many metaphors that identify this 1/3rd of the apostate and the role that they play.
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. - Revelation 9:3
Out of the smoke come the locusts which are now filled with wickedness. In the physical realm, what do locusts do? They eat leaves and grass and green things. But these locusts of the 5th trumpet are different as we shall see.
And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them. - Isaiah 33:4
The spoil is speaking about booty, prey, or the goods (Riches, possessions) of a person. [1] Who takes the spoil? The Scorpions take the spoil, the Judas’s. It is the locusts that will be running upon the Multitude, stealing all of their possessions, taking the spoil.
And just to remove any doubt that these locusts are not your normal locusts; we go to the book of Obadiah.
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity; - Obadiah 1:13
This verse was covered in the 1st trumpet in connection to the burning up of the green grass. This is the judgement of the Scorpions being informed of their transgression against the Multitude. This is most likely to occur at the Great White Throne Judgement. They are told that they shouldn’t have taken the possessions from “my people”. (The Multitude)
Here are some additional verses that are speaking about the Scorpions. This next verse is located in Joel 1. This verse is speaking to the Multitude.
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. - Joel 1:4
Each of these insects, the palmerworm, locust, cankerworm, and caterpillar has the word locust in their definitions. [2] Two verses later, the Lord refers to these four insects which are locusts by definition, as a nation.
For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. - Joel 1:6
This nation that comes “upon my land” (Israel/Jerusalem) has the teeth of a lion. As you will find out later, the Scorpions have the teeth of a lion. In Joel, chapter 2, the Lord then states that the locust, cankerworm, caterpillar, and palmerworm are the army that the Lord has sent among the people.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. - Joel 2:25
Yes, this is an army, a nation that comes “upon the people” (Multitude) to totally consume all of their possessions, and ultimately their lives.
O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness. [14] The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee. - Jeremiah 51:13, 14
This verse is speaking about Babylon. The Lord is going to fill Babylon with men (Caterpillars) and the locust/Scorpions will devour the spoil (Possessions, substance) of the Multitude. This coincides with the green grass being burned up. When something is burned up, it is consumed or devoured. Just as locusts/Scorpions consume or devour the goods of the Multitude.
If you look up the definition for caterpillar, you will find the definition young locust. [3]
...and unto them was given power... - Revelation 9:3
Power has some interesting definitions within it. One of the definitions will take us right into the words of Jesus describing the power that the enemies of the Gospel have.
The word power has within its definition; privilege, magistrate, delegated influence, authority, jurisdiction, power. [4]
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say. - Luke 12:11
Jesus is speaking to the martyrs of the future which includes the martyrs (Multitude) during the time of the Great Tribulation. These things will happen, just as Jesus said they would. They will be brought up before magistrates and powers, the power that is given to the locust/Scorpions.
...as the scorpions of the earth have power. - Revelation 9:3
What power does a scorpion have? The scorpion has the power that is given to him by God to hurt the Multitude. How does he do this?
The word scorpion means to pierce. [5] Its sting penetrates the skin. The root word for scorpion means; to peer about, a watch (sentry or scout). [6]
Now, this word is beginning to give us some indication as to the identification of the betrayers. What did Judas do when he betrayed Jesus? He was acting as an agent (Scout) on behalf of the Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees He informed them that Jesus frequented the Garden of Gethsemane and that Jesus could be found there. He was acting as a watch, a sentry, or a scout for the Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducces. Judas led them right to where Jesus was.
And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples. - John 18:2
And so shall it be in the Great Tribulation. The locusts with the sting of a scorpion will be leading the Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducces (Serpents) to the Multitude. The Multitude will be betrayed by their brothers and sisters that sat next to them in the pews. They will be betrayed by their family and trusted friends. What will they be betrayed for? They will be betrayed for their spoil, for their substance, and their possessions, because of their stand as a member of the Remnant of Israel.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. - Luke 21:16
Notice the word some is italicized. Which means this word was added to the text and is not part of the original text. We now know that ALL of the Multitude is killed. Therefore this word “some” when removed reads: “And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and of you shall they cause to be put to death.”
And when we compare that verse to a comparison verse, we find that they match.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. - Mark 13:12
Jesus tells us in Luke 19:44 “And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”
This of course is speaking about the Temple. It has already undergone a physical destruction in 70 A.D. That was a literal physical destruction. A replay of that event will be occurring in the Great Tribulation. This time, it shifts from the physical temple to the spiritual temple. The spiritual Temple will be totally destroyed and not one stone shall be left upon another. There will not be even one of the Multitude left.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 2:5
Who are the lively stones of a spiritual house? These would be the believers in Jesus Christ. The Multitude as lively stones will not be left one upon another. None shall escape the Wrath of God.
A scorpion in the physical has a venomous sting. When a scorpion stings you, it hurts. It is very painful.
When the Multitude is betrayed by relatives, parents, children, brethren, and friends; the betrayal hurts like the sting of a scorpion. To be betrayed by people you trusted and loved, yes, that will be very painful indeed.
The sting of the scorpion is not just the pain or hurt that is experienced by the Multitude. It is also the pain that is inflicted upon the Multitude by the Lord. His anger, wrath, and jealousy come through the Scorpions and Serpents. They are actually a conduit for the chastising of the Multitude. We can see this when we look at the scorpion in the Old Testament.
Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions... - Deuteronomy 8:15
This is very interesting. The Israelites dealt with fiery serpents and scorpions in the wilderness? Yes, they did. The Exodus from Egypt and the wilderness experience were done for examples for us at this time.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. - 1Corinthians 10:11
We need to look at the scorpions and the fiery serpents for they are examples for us at the end of this age.
The word scorpion in this verse is defined as; a scourge or knotted whip. [7]
Remember when Jesus went into the temple and overturned the tables? He went into the temple with a scourge. Also, the overflowing scourge is spoken about in Isaiah 28:18. The Multitude is trodden down by the overflowing scourge. The Scorpions are the scourge that begins their chastisement. The Serpents finish it. The alliance between these two groups, the Scorpions and the Serpents, accomplish this daunting task.
And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. - Revelation 9:4
This verse is one of the very few verses in the Trumpet Judgements that is actually literal and metaphoric at the same time. In its literal/metaphoric rendering we can pick up clues of the metaphors that have been previously discussed.
These locusts are commanded not to hurt (Consume) the literal/metaphoric grass, green things, or trees. This verse shows that these locusts don’t eat the things that ordinary, physical locusts eat, grass, herbage, and trees. Remember that at the 1st trumpet all of the green grass is burned up. There’s still green grass at the 5th trumpet and these locusts are commanded not to hurt the green grass, the trees, or any green thing.
Our biggest clue to the explanation of this verse comes in the words “but only those men.”
“But only those men” is referring to what was previously discussed; the grass, the green things, and trees. This is telling us that the grass, green things and the trees are representative of men and their substance. When one takes away the possessions (grass) of someone and their lives, they are hurting them.
These locusts are allowed to hurt “only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.” Who doesn’t have the seal of God in their foreheads? The Multitude doesn’t have the seal. The 144,000 have the seal of God in their foreheads.
The Scorpions can only hurt the Multitude. They are commanded by the Lord not to hurt the 144,000. An interesting note is the definition for green things. Its root definition means; a Christian Female. [8] In this context, I would say this would be referring to the five wise virgins or the chaste virgin which is the Bride of Christ. We can find corroboration of this in the following verse.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. - Luke 10:19
The Lord gives the 144,000 power to tread on Serpents and Scorpions while the Scorpions and the Serpents have power over the Multitude to tread them down. There is another verse in Psalms that speaks about treading underfoot the lion and the adder, the young lion and the dragon.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. - Psalm 91:13
Psalm 91 is written to the 144,000. Look at the identifications in this verse. The lion consumes the Multitude. The adder is associated with the Serpents. The young lion is the Scorpions and the dragon is the Serpents. The Lord gives the 144,000 power to tread on Serpents, Scorpions, lions, adders, young lions, and dragons. Nothing can harm the 144,000 once the sealing has occurred.
There is also the incident where Paul was bitten by a poisonous serpent and shook it off into the fire with no ill effects. [9]
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. - Revelation 9:5
The Scorpions do not have the power to kill the Multitude, but only to hurt them. They have within their power to torment (hurt) them for five months. This appears to be an actual time element perhaps pertaining to the actual processing time through the jurisdictional system.
The under-definition for the word torment means; to torture, pain, toil, torment, toss, vex. [10]
These Scorpions don’t make it easy on the Multitude. They not only betray them, but they totally strip them of everything. There are verses that speak about beating them in front of the synagogues and casting them into prison. And they do this all in the name of their belly and the god they follow.
This word striketh will give us definitions that line right up with the definition for the word betrayal. Striketh means; to hit, specially, to sting (as a scorpion), smite, strike. [11]
The definition to sting as a scorpion, smite and strike, sounds like chastisement, harsh chastisement.
Let’s take a look at this verse on betrayal of the Multitude again.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. - Luke 21:16
This word betrayed in this verse is defined as; betray, deliver (up), give (over, up), put in prison. [12]
The Scorpions do exactly that, they deliver up and put in prison the Multitude. Jesus himself tells of these things to come. This is the betrayal that stings like a scorpion.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. – Luke 21:12
The root word for betray gives us the definitions of; commit, deliver (up), have power, smite, strike. [13]
The root word for betray matches the words smite and strike to the definition of the word striketh. Also, the root word for betray has the definition of have power. The locusts have power that was given to them. They have power over the Multitude to strip them of their substance and take them into captivity.
This is how the moon is smitten; it is through the betrayal of the Multitude by the Scorpions. The moon turns to blood signifying their blood being spilled by their physical death at the hands of the Serpents.
There is a connection to the armaments of war belonging to the Scorpions spoken about in prophecy. The axes are connected to the Serpents which will be covered later. An armament that is attributable to the Scorpions is an arrow.
Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. - Jeremiah 9:8
Look at that verse. The words they speak are as an arrow. They speak lies and lay wait for his neighbor. Gee, I wonder who that’s speaking about. It is definitely the Scorpions. The word arrow is defined as; properly, a piercer, i.e. an arrow; by implication, a wound; figuratively, (of God) thunder-bolt, the shaft of a spear, archer, arrow, dart, shaft, staff, wound. [14] These are some words you can follow out in your own studies.
An arrow pierces as the piercing sting of the scorpion. Their betrayal of their neighbors is a wound inflicted upon them, more precisely, an arrow through their heart. The betrayal by someone you trusted cuts right to the heart.
And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south. - Zechariah 9:14
As we can see from the above verse, the arrow of the Scorpion is ultimately the Lord’s arrow. The Lord’s arrow is in the hand of the Scorpions as the unrighteous vessels exacting the Lord’s punishment upon the Multitude. And it just happens to be connected to the blowing of a trumpet, and the whirlwinds of the south, which are both factors of the 5th trumpet.
When we look at the sub-definitions of the word arrow, more connections are formed within this intricately woven fabric of scripture. The next definition down means; properly, to chop into, pierce or sever; hence, to curtail, to distribute (into ranks), to shoot an arrow, archer, bands, cut off in the midst. [15]
There are many connections within this definition. To chop into gives us the indication that this definition is crossing over to the Serpents. The Serpents use axes to chop down the forest and the towers. Remember the two fold alliance. Sometimes the verses and definitions cross over to each other. The term chop into is referring to the axes spoken about in the chapter entitled “The Land of the North.” The word sever is referring to the beheading spoken about in the same chapter.
Look at the definition, to curtail. That is a direct reference to the shortening of the days. This phrase is found in the definition for the word shortened. And there is another connection to the Multitude through the phrase to distribute (into ranks). Back when we were looking at the green grass that is burned up in the first trumpet, there was only one other verse in the Bible that uses the words green grass.
And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. [40] And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. - Mark 6:39, 40
The Multitude is commanded to sit down by companies divided into ranks of fifty and hundreds. The Multitude are the ones that are shot with an arrow, they are beheaded, (Metaphorically speaking) their days are curtailed and they are divided or distributed into ranks. There are many connections to the Multitude in that definition.
The root word for arrow tells us to look at a comparative word. That word means; arrogant, presumptuous, proud. [16] These definitions are undoubtedly referring to the Scorpions and the Serpents in the high place that they have chosen.
Let’s now take a look at a passage that not only shows the state of the Scorpions and Serpents spiritual nature, but this passage also gives us more identifications of metaphors.
And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. [4] For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. [5] And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. [6] And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though
briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. - Ezekiel 2:3-6
This passage is telling us the children of Israel are a rebellious nation/house. They are briers and thorns and scorpions. The rebellious nation/house of Israel is inhabited by the Scorpions and Serpents. Let’s see if we can find any connections by looking at the definition for rebellious.
Rebellious has a root word and some of its definitions are; make bitter, (Or unpleasant) to rebel, be disobedient, disobey, rebel (against, -lious). [17] The one definition that jumps out is the words make bitter. This rebellious house makes the waters bitter by the star called Wormwood.
There are further identifications of the Scorpions and the Serpents in the briers and thorns. The definitions speak for themselves as to which group they represent.
Briers means, to sting, a thistle, brier. [18] Thorns means; a prickle (as if pendulous); brier, thorn. [19] It comes from a root word meaning; to hang up, (figuratively) contemn, tread down (under foot). [20]
This makes it very clear that the briers are the Scorpions, and the thorns are the Serpents. The briers sting which matches to the sting of the Scorpion. The thorns tread down under foot which matches perfectly to the Serpents, which tread down under foot the Multitude. Let’s take a look at another passage with not only the briers and thorns, but with the phrase trodden down.
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: [6] And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. - Isaiah 5:5, 6
The vineyard is the church, Babylon. The Multitude is eaten up and trodden down by the briers and thorns that come up (Mount up like the lifting up of smoke) within the vineyard.
What happens to these briers and thorns? The briers and thorns which are the Scorpions and Serpents?
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. - Hebrews 6:8
Yes, there end is to be burned. But not before they complete their roles as Judas and the Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees. They are rejected and cursed for they are a rebellious house.
And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. - Revelation 9:6
To understand this verse, you must understand the mind set and the understanding that the Multitude has at this point in their trial. The Multitude finally wakes up out of their slumber and realizes what is happening. At this time the 144,000 will be going strong and preaching and teaching the Multitude the error of their ways and what must still come. The Multitude will receive these teachings. Their eyes will now be opened and their ears will now hear. They will receive and hold the truth very close to them, all the way to their death.
They also have a rudimentary knowledge of the Scorpions and Serpents and how their end is to be burned. The Multitude does not want to go to Hell. They want to be faithful unto the death. They know that if they die as a martyr, they will make it to the Promised Land and be standing on that Sea of Glass before the Throne of God. [21]
With the knowledge they now possess, they know that the only way they make it to heaven is through their death. Therefore, they shall seek death at the hands of the Scorpions. The only problem with them doing this is that the Scorpions do not possess the power to kill the Multitude, only the Serpents have the power to kill them.
This verse gives us the clarity of the two groups of the apostate, their roles, and their power. Judas did not possess the power to murder Jesus, but the Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees did through the office of Pontius Pilate. The Multitude has enough understanding to know that they will truly have to die as a martyr. And now these next two verses have much more meaning.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. - Matthew 16:24, 25
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. - Revelation 12:11
The Multitude will take up their cross and follow Jesus to the death. And in losing their life for the testimony of Jesus Christ, they will find eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ.
This verse concerning the Multitude seeking death and not finding it brings up another verse that we now have more clarity in understanding. This verse has not made much sense before, but with the identifications of the different groups, it becomes much clearer.
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day: - Matthew 24:20
A very plausible rendering of this verse knowing that winter and Sabbath day have a very good likelihood of being metaphors; we can now begin to understand what is being stated.
First of all, this is being told to the Multitude.
Is this verse speaking about having to flee in inclement weather or on a Saturday or Sunday, or could this be speaking about something else?
We already have one clue to unraveling this verse. The clue is found in the word winter. Winter is connected to the Serpents. “All the beasts of the field shall winter upon them.” [22] Since one has been identified, that only leaves one other for the Sabbath day, which are the Scorpions.
Looking at today’s modern church, there are two days of worship that are observed, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is linked to an ancient god, the planet Saturn. The day was named after it, Saturn-day. Saturn is referenced as “The star of your sun.”
Sunday is Sun-god-day. Sunday was named after the sun god Rah. The dictionary defines Sunday as the day of the sun.
Both days of Sabbaths observed by the church have a connection to the sun. Who is the sun representative of? The sun is representative of the Scorpions.
Let’s go back to the understanding of the Multitude. Their flight will be to no avail for they will be hunted down and murdered. But they are afraid, they therefore flee. At this time they will be praying really hard, praying that the Lord will save them. In the prayer to the Lord to save them; they are praying “Lord, I don’t want to go to Hell, I want your salvation.” This prayer is exactly the prayer of “pray that your flight not be in the winter or the Sabbath day,” just different words are used. They are praying that they will be saved and not go to Hell. Which is where the winter and the sun are going by the path they have chosen. The Multitude does not want to be classified in either of those two groups, for the path of these two groups (Winter and Sabbath day) the Serpents and Scorpions, are straight to the lake of fire.

scorpions are many metaphors that identify this 1/3rd of the apostate and the role that they play.
