The Trumpet Judgements Unveiled

Chapter 5
The Third Trumpet

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning            as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the     fountains of waters; [11] And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and     the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the       waters, because they were made bitter. - Revelation 8:10, 11

Looking through our natural eyes, we see a comet falling on a third of the rivers and upon the fountains of water (how does it do that?), and pollutes them somehow, maybe through radioactivity. The waters are made bitter and many men die of the waters. This is very obscure, but that is through the natural eyes.

We will get complete clarity when we view this through spiritual eyes.

First, let’s explore a great star that falls from heaven. We have another verse in Revelation that says that a star falls from heaven.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth:            and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.  - Revelation 9:1

These two verses seem to have a connection. The only difference is the star in the 4th trumpet is referred to as a great star. This could certainly be referring to the power that this star imparts. As you will find out in the 4th trumpet, the Serpents are also the stars and they are powerful, or great.

The star that is mentioned in the 5th trumpet will be discussed in further detail later.

...and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp...     -           Revelation 8:10

This great star signifies that it is a more powerful star than other stars. It also has a name of Wormwood. Notice that the name Wormwood is capitalized meaning it is a proper noun. A proper noun is the name or title of a person, place, or thing. This signifies that this star is an important star. As we can see by the following verse, one star is different from another.

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another     glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. –
            1Corinthians 15:41

This appears to be an important or great star that is more powerful than other stars in their glory. Could this be referring to Satan himself, or perhaps the False Prophet? Time will tell us these things as we move closer to that time.

The word lamp is defined as; a lamp or flambeau, lamp, light, torch. 1 The word torch in this definition shows up in Nahum and is a metaphor for chariots. Chariots are also a metaphor for the trumpets and the groups they represent. This is what one would call a double metaphor.

The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in            the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the             lightnings. - Nahum 2:4

Is this describing the chariots of horsemen of the 5th trumpet and the chariot of asses of the 6th trumpet? Let’s look at some of the words in this verse. They shall justle one against another means; to course (like a beast of prey); by implication, to seek greedily, have appetite, justle one against another, run (to and fro).

This definition describes both of the apostate, the greedy ones, the Scorpions, and the ones coursing like a beast of prey which are the Serpents.

They are going to justle one against another indicates more than one chariot in the broad ways. That phrase seems familiar. “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.” 2

This fits the 1st and 2nd third of the apostate to a tee. They are in the broad ways which leads straight to the lake of fire. Then the verse states “they shall seem like torches.” The definition for torches is; a flambeau, lamp or flame. The definitions for lamp in Revelation 9:1 and torches in Nahum 2:4 are virtually identical.

There is also a verse that identifies run (to and fro) with the Scorpions which are also the locusts.

And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the    running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them. - Isaiah 33:4

The name of this star is called Wormwood, a star that is burning as a lamp, which lines up with the chariots that shall seem like torches. Who are the chariots? They are the 1st and 2nd third of the apostate, the Scorpions and the Serpents.

Wormwood is the name of a bitter herb. Its definition is; wormwood is: (as a type of bitterness, i.e. (figuratively) calamity. 3

This star named Wormwood makes the waters bitter and figuratively means calamity which is easily identifiable with the Tribulation. To find the connections we need to do some exploring in the Old Testament.

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed             them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.           [16] I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their        fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed            them.  - Jeremiah 9:15, 16

Who is scattered and a sword is sent out after them? The Multitude is scattered and a sword is drawn out after them. Who will receive Wormwood? The Multitude receives the Wormwood. They are fed wormwood and given water of gall to drink. Let’s look at those definitions.

Wormwood in the above verse means; to curse; wormwood (regarded as poisonous and therefore accursed), hemlock, wormwood. 4 Gall means; a poisonous plant, generally poison (even of Serpents), gall, hemlock, poison, venom. 5

Both wormwood and gall are poisonous. Gall states that it is generally poison (even of Serpents) and it can also be venom. The sting of a scorpion wields poison or venom. The bite of the Serpents also yields poison. Wormwood also means to curse. This will be discussed further in the 6th trumpet. Do you see both the Scorpions and the Serpents in these definitions?

This next verse contains the words that will be spoken by the Multitude. The entire book of Lamentations is about the Multitude and their plight.

He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.            -  Lamentations 3:15 In the following verse we will find the connecting of the           bitterness of Wormwood to Babylon.

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall        march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling places that         are not theirs. - Habakkuk. 1:6

The Chaldeans are the Babylonians. They are a bitter and hasty nation. They also seem to have an army that goes through the land and takes what does not belong to them. Sound familiar?

The definition for the word bitter in this verse reads; …bitter (literally or figuratively); also (as noun) bitterness, or (adverbially) bitterly:--+ angry, bitter(-ly, -ness), chafed, discontented, X great, heavy. [6]

The under-definition means; …properly, to trickle…to be (causatively, make) bitter (literally or figuratively):--(be, be in, deal, have, make) bitter(-ly, - ness), be moved with choler, (be, have sorely, it) grieved(-eth), provoke, vex. [7]

The bitter and hasty nation that comes down upon the Multitude feeds them Wormwood and gives them gall to drink.  The bitterness that the Multitude receives is the betrayal of their former church members, family, and friends to the death. It is a bitter pill indeed.

The Wormwood that makes the waters bitter is the greediness, wickedness, anger, and haughtiness of the 2/3rds of the church. The Multitude will drink these waters which will include the betrayal by loved ones, and the bitterness of realizing that they are guilty of bringing all these things upon themselves.

...and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. -   Revelation 8:11

The Greek word used for the word many in Revelation 8:11 is the same word used for the word great in “a great multitude” in Revelation 7:9. Who dies of the water? The Multitude dies of the bitter waters.

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star (the Serpents) from heaven, burning as it were a lamp (alliance of the Scorpions and Serpents), and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters (the waters that the Multitude drinks); [11] And the name of the star is called Wormwood (bitterness): and the third part of the waters became wormwood (the bitterness the Multitude drinks); and many men died (the great Multitude) of the waters, because they were made bitter. - Revelation 8:10, 11

This is how we see the third trumpet through spiritual eyes.
