The Trumpet Judgements Unveiled
Chapter 11
Horses, Chariots, and Lions
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. - Revelation 9:7
“And the shapes of the locusts were like” tells us that this is a similitude, another metaphor. In fact the word shapes has within its definitions; similitude, resemble, similar in appearance or character. [1] They are like horses prepared for battle. We can find a corresponding verse in Joel 2.
The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. [5] Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. - Joel 2:4, 5
Notice that it clearly states “the appearance of them is as the appearance of horses.” That is exactly what Revelation 9:7 says. Then it tells us that they shall leap “on the tops of the mountains.” Mountains are a metaphor for a spiritual place or state of being. For example: Mount Sion, Mount Sinai, and Mount Seir. These mountains are or were actual mountains, but they are also spiritual mountains.
These verses also mention chariots. Remember the three chariots of Isaiah 21? It also tells us that this is a strong people set in battle array.
And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen... - Isaiah 21:9
We keep coming back to Babylon. This is where the battle rages for 42 months. The Multitude is trodden underfoot by the wicked apostate, and the wicked apostate is thinking the entire time they are doing their dastardly deeds, that they are doing the work of God. How wrong they are.
Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers. - Jeremiah 51:27
In this verse there is another metaphor answered within a metaphor. The horses that are prepared for battle in Revelation 9:7 come up as rough caterpillars. The horses are also a metaphor. The horses are the authority that is their vehicle to hurt the Multitude.
The word rough is a link to Esau and the Serpents’ connection to the rebuilt House of Esau. Rough is defined as; bristling, i.e. shaggy, rough. [2]
In Genesis 25:25 and Genesis 27:23, the word hairy is used to describe Esau. Esau was an extremely hairy man. In those two verses, two different definitions are used for the word hairy. [3] Between the two definitions, we find the words; bristling, shaggy, and rough. How’s that for identification?
...and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. - Revelation 9:7
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. - Ezekiel 21:26
These locusts are wearing as it were crowns of gold. This is signifying their power, their authority as the “him that is high” as referred to in Ezekiel 21:26. But their power is only temporary, the crown will be removed and he that was high shall be abased, (Scorpions and Serpents) and he that is low shall be exalted. (The Multitude)
The location of this verse is no accident. The verse that follows Ezekiel 21:26, reads “I will overturn, overturn, overturn...” This is the overthrow of Babylon.
They also have the faces of men because that’s exactly what they are, men. They are reprobate and rebellious men that have forsaken the way of the Lord.
And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. - Revelation 9:8
Within this verse we have another important clue. These Scorpions have hair as the hair of women. That would be signifying long hair.
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? -
1 Corinthians 11:14
This verse is not telling you that if a man has long hair, it is a shame unto him. We have to understand to whom this was written. There were men of the Corinth church that wore long hair due to their effeminate nature. A man is not to wear long hair as a woman so as to be like a woman. That is a shame unto them.
But this verse gives us a clue to the fact that these Scorpions are a shame. The word shame is defined as; disgrace, dishonor, reproach, shame, vile. [4] Those definitions certainly are attributes of the Scorpions.
In Isaiah 24:23, we are told that the sun (Scorpions) is ashamed. “Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.”
...and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. - Revelation 9:8
For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. - Joel 1:6
The Scorpions have their teeth as the teeth of lions. The Serpents of the 6th trumpet have the heads of lions. Both groups have attributes of a lion. In both the 5th and the 6th trumpets, we find the lion within them. What about the 7th trumpet? At the 7th trumpet the Lord Jesus Christ returns. We also have a lion in the 7th trumpet, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ.
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. - Revelation 5:5
The watchman of Isaiah 21 cries “A lion: my Lord.” He then sees the three chariots which are the three woes. All three woes or chariots have a lion within them.
The definition and sub-definition for lion means; violent gathering. [5] It also has the word pierce in its definition. The word pierce also came within the definition of briers. The word pierce is also one of the definitions for the Scorpion. Here are more connections to the identifications.
The word teeth means; to eat (literally or figuratively), eat, meat. [6]
Let’s look at a passage where a lion eats something.
Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch. - Amos 3:12
This is another similitude. The children of Israel will be taken out of Samaria and Damascus, which are spiritual identifications for the church, (Babylon) It is going to be a violent gathering as the ones that are taken out of the lion’s mouth.
The one that shall be taken (Multitude) are taken out of the lion’s mouth. They will be taken out of the mouths of the Scorpions and the Serpents.
The phrase be taken out has as some of its definitions; snatch away, spoil, strip, and pluck. [7] All of these words are referring to what happens to the Multitude. The word pluck is in the sub-definition for lion.
Samaria and Damascus are additional identifications to Babylon. (Spiritual) There is another verse that tells us what these groups do.
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came. - Amos 6:1
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; - Amos 6:4
“Woe to them” is telling us that this is the 5th trumpet, and those that this “woe” is directed to “trust in the mountain of Samaria.” Who trusts in the mountain of Samaria? The Multitude trusts in mountain of Samaria, which is Babylon. The Multitude is in Samaria/Babylon right now, sitting on the pews, clapping their hands, singing songs, and listening to the lies of the pastors in sheep’s clothing.
They will come out of their slumber when the pastors turn into ravening wolves and the so called brothers and sisters sitting next to them in the pews turn on them and transform into Scorpions and Serpents with mouths and teeth of lions and begin to snatch them up, one by one.
The Scorpions and the Serpents eat the lambs out of the flock and calves out of the stalls. This could only be referring to the devouring of the Multitude by the high ones that lie upon beds of ivory and stretch themselves upon their couches.
And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. - Revelation 9:9
Breastplates are representative of a person’s character and essentially who they are. As Christians we are told to put on the breastplate of righteousness. [8] The breastplate of righteousness is the character of a true Christian. They are righteous through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
The Scorpions have breastplates of iron. The Serpents have breastplates of fire, jacinth, and brimstone. Both of their breastplates are borne on unrighteous vessels. Let’s look at the breastplates of iron.
The breastplates of iron are representative of the unrighteous oppression that they put upon the Multitude. The Lord uses both groups of the apostate as vessels of dishonor. Even though the Multitude is punished by the Lord as a righteous judgement of God, the Scorpions and Serpents deal unjustly and unrighteously with the Multitude. The Lord uses these vessels of dishonor to exact His Judgements upon the Multitude.
Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26 are the curses and the judgements that He brings upon the Multitude and eventually the apostate. One of the curses is a yoke of iron.
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. - Deuteronomy 28:48
The Lord designates iron for the Scorpions and brass for the Serpents. Look at these next two verses, one in Deuteronomy 28 and one in Leviticus 26.
And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. - Deuteronomy 28:23
And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: - Leviticus 26:19
The heaven over the Multitude is brass and iron. The earth beneath them is brass and iron. The iron and the brass are the Scorpions and the Serpents. The Multitude is completely encompassed from above and below with nowhere to go. They are caught in the Whirlwind of Judgement. How does the Lord view the iron and the brass?
He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. - Job 41:27
Straw and rotten wood are burned up. Straw is defined as chaff. [9] Rotten wood is defined as decayed wood. [10] and is good for nothing. Both of these, the straw and rotten wood are certainly fit for destruction. This next verse turns these metaphors of brass and iron into revolters and corrupters of the church.
They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. - Jeremiah 6:28
The word revolters have as one of its definitions rebellious. [11] This takes us back to Ezekiel 2:3-6 which speaks about Israel being the rebellious house. “They are all corrupters” brings us to a verse that speaks about a corrupt tree. The Scorpions and the Serpents are corrupt trees.
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. - Matthew 7:17
The word corrupt has as some of its many definitions; hurtful, and wickedness. [12] Both the Scorpions and the Serpents hurt men and are full of wickedness. The corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit, wickedness. The word evil and the word corrupt have each other as definitions.
The corrupt tree and rotten wood are tied together; they are one and the same. One of the definitions for corrupt is the word rotten. [13] One of the definitions for tree in the Old Testament is wood. [14] Putting together the two definitions for corrupt tree you come up with the phrase rotten wood “...and brass as rotten wood.” - Job 41:27 We now know who that corrupt tree is representative of.
...and the sound of their wings... - Revelation 9:9
The word wings immediately brings the fowls of the heaven to mind; the fowls of the heaven that summer upon the flesh of the dead bodies of His servants. There are more verses speaking about birds and whom they represent.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. [27] As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. - Jeremiah 5:26, 27
Here are the wicked men. They lay wait and catch men. This is compared to them being a cage full of birds. Their houses are full of liars and they have become rich. They become rich by stealing the goods of the Multitude in the form of rewards and bribery. This perfectly describes the Scorpions.
Didn’t Judas lay wait? He knew where Jesus was and led the men that took him captive. The Scorpions will do the same thing. Seeking out and exposing and turning in the Multitude, using deceit to gain their possessions.
The words lay wait is defined as; to spy out, (for evil) lurk for, lay wait. [15] And we can find a connection to the Scorpions through one of the definitions for scorpion; to peer about, a watch, (sentry or scout). [16]
The Scorpions lay wait, spy out, they are a watch, a sentry or a scout, looking for the Multitude so they can betray them and bring them into captivity for the Serpents. They will lie and be full of deceit.
The houses of deceit are the houses where these birds (Scorpions) dwell. The word deceit has direct connections to the Judas’s. Deceit has as some of its definitions; treachery, craft, and feigned. [17]
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you... - 2 Peter 2:3
The word feigned means; to mould or fabricate a fictitious falsehood (a lie). [18] With lying words they will receive reward for the sale of the Multitude to the Serpents.
The root word for deceit has as one of its definitions the word betray. [19] Which brings us right back to the sting of the scorpion “when he striketh a man.” The ones that lay wait are the betrayers. The betrayers that lay wait are as “a cage of birds.” Another loop forms. There is another verse referring to a cage of birds in Revelation.
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. - Revelation 18:2
The cage of birds (Scorpions) has not only become rich by lying for unjust gain, they are also unclean and hateful birds.
The word hateful is defined as; (hatred); to detest (especially to persecute). [20]
We can find a corresponding passage that Jesus spoke.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. - Matthew 24:9
The Multitude will be hated by both the Scorpions and the Serpents.
We need to take a look at this word cages. There are connections made with this word that is absolutely amazing. The word cages are only used twice in the entire Bible. In these two passages we have just discussed. The cages are filled with birds, which are the Scorpions. This demands a more intense study of this word.
The word cages used in Jeremiah 5:27 is defined as; a bird trap in relation to a basket, or a cage. [21]
We have covered this verse previously concentrating on the fishes that are taken in an evil net. There was also the reference in that verse to the birds that are caught in a snare. The birds in this verse are the doves which are snared, the doves being a metaphor for the Multitude. The snare that the doves are caught in is the bird trap in the definition for cages.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. - Ecclesiastes 9:12
The sub-definition is for cages is; to yelp, or else to attack; a dog; hence (by euphemism) a male prostitute. [22]
It is very likely that the dog in this definition this is referring to is the dog turning back to his own vomit. [23] Not a very colorful picture there, but this is exactly what the Scorpions and Serpents do. They go back to where they were prior to the saving grace they received from Jesus Christ, whom they have now rejected. They are completely taken over by wickedness. The dogs attack the Remnant of Israel.
The definition of a male prostitute will be discussed at the end of the 6th trumpet. This definition is directly referring to the Scorpions.
The word cages in Revelation 18:2 have as some of its definitions; guarding, imprisonment, a watch. [24] This makes sense in that the Scorpions seize the Multitude by betrayal, and they are cast into prison by them. There is more to be learned by drilling down through these definitions. Many more connections will be made.
The next sub-definition in the word cages is; to watch, i.e. be on guard. [25] Remember the definition for scorpion; to peer about, a watch (sentry or scout)? Also, remember the definition for lay wait in Jeremiah 5:26; to spy out, (for evil) lurk for, lay wait. The verse just prior to the verse speaking about the cages of birds was Jeremiah 5:26 speaking about wicked men that lay wait, setting traps and catching men. This identification of them being a guard, sentry, or scout will be discussed further in the 5th trumpet.
Let’s go down another definition. The next definition down means; an offshoot, i.e. race or clan, kindred, tribe. [26] The next definition down is; a sprout, i.e. leaf. [27] Both of these definitions come from the parable of the fig tree.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: - Matthew 24:32
There are identifications of the Scorpions that are unique only to them, likewise with the Serpents. But there are other identifications that weave their way through both groups. You will frequently find this in scripture.
It may be specifically speaking about one group individually or both groups collectively. In fact, in one passage of scripture, one group may be identified, then the other group identified, and then both groups are spoken about. It takes a bit of study, but becomes easier to identify with practice.
There is an interesting link from the definition for cage of Jeremiah 5:27 to the dream of the butler and the baker in Genesis 40:1-23. The definition of cages had the word basket which directly links to this passage in Genesis 40. Let’s look at it for you will find it full of metaphors which ties in with what we are studying.
In these passages, Joseph is in prison. The king’s butler and baker are cast into prison with Joseph. Both the butler and the baker have dreams which they tell to Joseph, and Joseph interprets the dreams.
Joseph informs the butler who is the king’s cupbearer, that in three days; (The Third Day) he will be restored to his former place as a cupbearer to the king. The baker however is not so lucky. Joseph informs the baker that he will be killed, and on the Third Day, he is killed. It is in the details of his dream and his ultimate end that is strikingly familiar to the division of the church, their fates and details about the death of the Multitude.
The butler is restored to his place serving the king as the cupbearer. This would be representative of the 144,000 and the sealing. Both of their fates, the butler and the baker are set on the Third Day. The baker’s demise and the details of his dream are the division of the church and the ultimate fates of the three groups of the church, the Scorpions, the Serpents, and the Multitude.
The baker tells Joseph that in the dream he had three baskets upon his head. In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods and birds ate the baked goods out of the basket.
Joseph interpreted the dream as follows; “And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days: Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.” [28]
Here is the last day’s interpretation of this same dream, the second fulfillment. The three baskets are the threefold division of the church, the Scorpions, the Serpents, and the Multitude.
The two bottom (Low) baskets represent the 2 groups of the apostate. They are on the bottom for they become abased. They cease to be a people. The two bottom baskets are empty and have nothing in them for the Scorpions and the Serpents are cut off and die. The top basket represents the Multitude. They are on top for they shall be exalted. The top basket and the contents represent the Multitude. The bake meats (Baked goods) are the wheat (Multitude) ground and crushed and baked in the heat of the oven. (Furnace of affliction, the Tribulation) The birds (Scorpions) feed upon the Multitude.
On the Third day, the Multitude will be given to the fowls of the heaven and the beasts of the earth to be consumed. Look at this part of the verse “Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree.”
Lifting up the head from the baker certainly sounds like beheading to me.
...and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, his image, had received his mark neither upon their foreheads, nor in their hands... - Revelation 20:4
But wasn’t the baker hanged? Yes, he was. The term behead can mean the head being chopped off, OR it can also be a metaphor for taking the Multitude down from their high place to where they will return to the Lord, for a price, their lives. The type of death they die may or may not be by being beheaded.
Also notice that the baker was hanged on a tree. Wasn’t Jesus hanged on a tree? Yes, he was. And this baker is a metaphor for the Multitude, who in following Jesus within the Judas Cycle who will also be accused of blasphemy and murdered. Just as Jesus was hanged on a tree, so will the Multitude be hanged on a tree. But remember, being hanged on a tree may not be literal and is a similitude to parallel the death of the Son of God.
There are additional connections and identifications contained within this understanding of the butler’s dream and his eventual fate.
When we looked at the word thorns, a metaphor for the Serpents, we found a phrase in the root definition for that word. It was the phrase to hang up. [29] The thorns/Serpents hang up the Multitude, just as the baker was hanged up. The baker also had his head lifted off (Beheaded) just as the Multitude is beheaded. From these clues, the baker is a similitude for the Multitude. The beheading will be further discussed in the chapter “The Land of the North.”
Both the Scorpions and the Serpents are connected to the baker. The fowls of the heaven (Scorpions) eat the baked goods (Multitude) out of the top basket. The Pharaoh (Pontius Pilate urged on by the Serpents) hangs up the baker (Multitude) on the tree.
...and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. - Revelation 9:9
Now, let’s look at the sound of their wings, for they sound like “chariots of many horses running to battle.”
For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. - Isaiah 66:15
These chariots are described to be coming like a whirlwind along with fire to render the anger and rebuke of the Lord. The Whirlwind is what comes down upon the Multitude in the form of the 5th and 6th trumpets.
And don’t forget the chariot of horses in Isaiah 21 that brings the violence upon Babylon.
At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands; - Jeremiah 47:3
There is a noise of the hoofs of the horses, and the rushing of his chariots, and rumbling of his wheels. There are sounds involved. In this verse and within these sounds we have the “sound like chariots of many horses running to battle.” This is the sound that John heard pertaining to the locust’s wings.
The word rushing has some interesting definitions; uproar, commotion, confused noise, earthquake, fierceness, quaking, rattling, rushing, shaking. [30] This gives us the indication as to a great shaking in the land of Israel that is going on.
For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; - Ezekiel 38:19
And wouldn’t you know it. The word shaking used in this verse in Ezekiel 38:19 just happens to be the same word used for rushing in Jeremiah 47:3.
The root definition for rushing means; to undulate (as the earth, the sky, etc.; also a field of grain) specifically, to spring (as a locust). [31]
The word used in that definition to undulate means to move in waves. [32] Makes one think of waves of the sea upon Babylon. Notice that one of the items in the above definition is a field of grain. This implies a harvest. This is the harvesting of the wheat. Wheat is a metaphor for the Multitude. In the process of harvesting wheat, wheat gets threshed. The Multitude gets threshed, as does the daughter of Babylon.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come. - Jeremiah 51:33
The harvest of the wheat that is brought in is the Multitude. The tares are bundled or bound together first, prior to the harvesting of the wheat; the Scorpions and the Serpents in alliance with each other are bundled as the tares. Then the gathering of the wheat harvest begins. The wheat harvest commences with the reaping of the wheat (Captivity) and then the wheat is threshed, (Chastised) and the wheat is brought into His barn. (They are killed)
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. - Matthew 13:30
We also have as one of the definitions for rushing; to spring (as a locust). The sound of the rushing wheels of the chariots sounds like the sound of the wings of the locust. When a locust springs, you hear the sound of their wings. These verses and definitions keep making connections.
And they had tails like unto Scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. - Revelation 9:10
This word hurt is the same word that is used for hurting the earth, the sea, and the trees by the four trumpets. It means; to be unjust, i.e. (actively) do wrong (morally, socially or physically), hurt, injure, be an offender, be unjust. [33]
They hurt alright. Their betrayal, deceit, and thievery cuts right to the heart of the Multitude.
The reference to the five months that they hurt men very likely is referring to some type of time period relating to the amount of time that the Multitude may be under their charge. As time grows closer, this time period will be revealed and give us a clearer understanding.
